Over the past couple of months I have been spotting a lot of these chairs around…
…industrial looking hammered steal chairs, and I think I have fallen in love. There is something very mid-century modern about them that seems to be calling my name.
I found a great version at Cost Plus World Market last month, but at $109 apiece, I am thinking, that this purchase is currently a no. However, I don’t believe we should ever limit ourselves, because there is always (always!) a do it yourself version that can be done for a relatively inexpensive price. So that is what I set out to do this past weekend.
I took this chair that had been sitting in my garage for a month, (we picked it up on the side of the road 4th of July weekend). I purchased some gray leather fabric and hammered steel spray paint from Rust-Oleum. This “hammered” version of spray paint was about $8.00 a bottle, twice as much as regular spray paint. I got the fabric at Joann’s for 60% off and spent about $6.00.
I think I will keep looking for some chairs with wider legs and more industrial lines, but I am happy with the results. Not bad for $22.00!
