I am a wife, mama and DIY enthusiast. I love sharing ideas on the art of homemaking, food, babies, design and how to decorate on a budget. My husband and I are remodeling our home in Phoenix and I share my thoughts, projects and journey through this blog. I hope you’ll stay awhile and take a look around.
I know I said that I would post my after photos of my latest thrift store purchases (and I will tomorrow). But I didn't get home in time to hang the new items tonight... So, for tonight, here are some fun photos that I found on Pinterest. Just some inspiration for the night!
Tonight the white spray paint went into action on these bad boys from Goodwill... I'll show you the before and after pictures tomorrow... I am off to do some reading and I have a feeling that an early bedtime is calling my name. Sleep tight!
This past Saturday Husband and I went to about five different Goodwill's and Saver's and picked up some items from the 50% off sale. I am in the process of getting ready for a furniture sale coming up in November (more on that later). Between a bunch of frames and pictures, I found an old mirror... for only $3.50! Of course I had to bring that baby home and spray paint it. It made the perfect addition to our foyer!
I would like to take a moment to recognize this day and remember those who perished on September 11th, ten years ago. Many people gave their lives for this country and I hope that we all remember to keep the victims, their families and our great country in our thoughts and prayers today and always. God Bless You All.
I have been a bit out the loop this week. I have barely had a chance to jump on my computer, but I did want to share a couple of projects Husband and I crossed off our list over the long weekend.
The first of which was to switch out the dining room chandelier. I actually rather liked the one that came with the house. It was art deco, which I am always a big fan of, but I scored a free whimsical fixture and wanted to try it out.
The piece seems to brings out the soft gray walls and allows for a bit better view of the window. The chandelier is made up of silver glass cylinders, which also seem to brighten up the room, while the light allows for a much softer glow. The previous fixture had six bulbs and was very bright at the dinner table. I tried using only a few of the lights, but the rays just seemed a bit harsh. I also do have to give a shout out to my husband for his manly electrician skills! I really do like this new whimsical look!
This week I found some great finds at Goodwill. I love it when that happens! I actually scoured three locations, looking for dressers, buffets and chairs, to no avail. I was almost able to nab a radio hutch, but a mean old man walked up and told me he had already laid claim to that beautiful piece. I kind of wanted to cry. It was only $9.99.
Still, I found some fun pictures that I can't wait to hang. I'll keep you posted. Tomorrow, I am off to an early start of garage saling and thrifting. Gotta love the weekend!
