I’ve had the honor of knowing Heather Hill for many years. Our paths have crossed through mutual friends, social gatherings and spontaneous get-togethers. However, it was not until a few months back, next to a Goodwill chaise lounge that we found each other again.
One Friday morning I was making my weekly thrift store visit, when I noticed a horrible green paisley chaise lounge. It was a beautiful site! As you thrifters know, these lounges are rare finds, and must be snatched up as soon as possible. Just as soon as I spotted the find, I noticed that a cutie pie blonde had already seemed to stake claim, and was taking photos with her phone. That is usually a sure sign for SOLD. I sighed, if only I had arrived five minutes earlier!
Still, fate has a funny way of leading us in the right direction, and as I approached the lounge, I noticed that that cute blonde was indeed my old friend, Heather Hill.
It was there, by the side of an old plaid chaise lounge that we found each other and shared our love of all things local, vintage, distinctive and our visions for the future.
Heather is an amazing photographer, focusing on everything from interiors to weddings. She has a wonderful eye and an entrepreneurial spirit. She shared with me her plans for a boutique that would feature local artists and unique pieces. She had recently found a space in downtown Tempe, and we knew in that moment, that we would find a way to work together… and yes, Heather let me have that chaise lounge.
That is the story of how it came about that Project Home found a home at Hill Creative. Heather is allowing me to feature refurbished items and furniture in her lovely little shop. Heather’s goal is to provide a home for local artists and support the community by allowing beautiful items, at affordable prices.
Hill Creative is located in Tempe at 707 S. Forest Ave., Suite D and we hope that you will join us for the Grand Opening on Saturday, March 17th from 11am to 7pm.
I have been lucky enough to start an Etsy shop with my repurposed finds, but Heather will house some exclusive items, and many of the Etsy items as well.
Please come visit us on the 17th and say Hello! We can’t wait to meet you!
