I started off by removing the hardware and scraping and sanding the excess grime. This leaf was pretty dirty!
Then I sanded and wiped off the excess dust. I decided to re-stain the piece to give it a distressed, farmhouse look. I wanted something rustic and distressed to offset the clean lines of the chalkboard. Then I followed up with a few poly coats and attached brackets for hanging.
The Supplies and Process
I used wood filler to fill in the screw holes. Gotta love that stuff!
