Gardening, House Projects

 Life Lately

Things have been quietly busy this last month. We’ve been spending a lot of time in Grammy’s pool and working on keeping an active toddler inside with the 108 degree weather. This is no easy feat, when I am constantly reminded that we should visit that “Pooh”, or toddler translation, “Pool”.

It’s been hard to stay motivated with this heat, but I have had time to start a couple of projects. One of which is painting the top kitchen cabinets white. This is kind of a big deal. It’s taken me 3 years to convince Husband that this is a good idea. Right now the bottom cabinets will stay wood and the top white. Eventually we’ll add some pine or butcher block counters, as well as paint the bottom cabinets grey when we put in bamboo flooring. But that’s all a couple of years down the line.

The laundry room is sort of coming along. We’ve had some hiccups with the plumping, so it’s slow and steady these days. More slow than steady. But we did get the exterior and trim painted and I’ve picked out a beautiful blue/grey for some cute little shutters to frame the window. I also picked up some cedar planks to make a flower box.

I planted this bougainvillea to climb over the window, well one day it will climb. For now, I’m loving the pretty pink color.

The gardens took off and we have a ton of summer harvest. I’m going to start freezing my tomatoes for marinara base. The taste of home grown tomatoes is absolutely delicious!

The sunflowers in full bloom last month.
